Video > Monologues and Rants
For two and a half years, from 1999-2001, I recorded a fairly constant stream of introspective stream-of-consciousness video rants and monologues. It was a rather cathartic formative art experience. Though my monologues and rants have been far more intermittent since that point I still consider that direct discursive practice to be foundational for all of my work. Years later, after the invention of sites like Youtube, (where many people post very similar types of communication) I consider my initial impulse to make these videos somewhat ahead of the curve. I often ponder returning to this kind of immediate lo-fi production.
